Inigo Montoya “Prepare to Die” T-Shirt Causes Discomfort on a Flight

Inigo Montoya T-shirtUnless you killed Inigo Montoya’s father, should you really be freaked out by this t-shirt?

Well, seems that this “Prepare to die” shirt, worn by Wynand Mullins on a Qantas flight, caused quite a stir.

Mullins was approached by a flight attendant and told him that others on the flight were intimidated by the words on his shirt.  The flight attendant went so far as to ask Mullins to remove it and to change into something else.

Okay, so maybe not everyone has seen the fantasy flick The Princess Bride, where the famous quote,  ”Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.” came from, but even Mullins’ seat mates, who have obviously seen the movie, found the whole thing funny.

When Mullins didn’t have another shirt, the flight attendant went looking for one and never returned, yet also didn’t make eye contact with him for the rest of the flight.  According to www.stuff.co.nz, Mullins said, ”I wouldn’t be surprised if they had someone watching me the whole time.”

Qantas was questioned about the incident said they had no recollection of it happening and assumed it was handled by the crew and were also quoted as saying ”Qantas does have dress standards for passengers traveling on our aircraft . . . particularly for slogans which other passengers may find offensive or threatening.”

So, where do you stand on this?  On the one hand my thought is, “Lighten the hell up, you wussies!   I want my pre-9/11 flying experience back!”  Yet, on the other I think, “Really dude, really?  Was it that important that you wore this shirt?”

Thoughts?

They should have dug up the DVD and run the movie.
