India to Surpass China as Most Populous Country in 2023: UN Report | 10 Findings

India is projected to surpass China as the most populous country in the world next year, according to the UN report released on the occasion of World Population Day. The other seven countries are the Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines and Tanzania.

Australian and New Zealand populations, North Africa and West Asia, and Oceania are expected to experience slower but positive growth until the end of this century.

East and East Asia, Central and South Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Europe and North America are likely to reach the peak of their population and witnesses decline before 2100.
