It's here! It's officially the Holiday Season and I for one am feeling the Holiday Spirit. I've been decorating since early November! Seriously, it's the earliest I've ever started decorating!! But I've come to realize from years past that if you wait too long the shelves of decor are practically wiped out. So right after Halloween ended, I busted out Christmas. And I wanted time to enjoy my decor instead of putting it up and 3 weeks later taking it down. This year's decor theme is Snow, Snow, Snow! It's seriously doubtful that I'll be seeing a white Christmas here in North Carolina so I brought the faux snow indoors. I have so much to show you this week so I decided split my home up into sections for some mini tours. First up, the front porch and our entry. No I haven't started saying y'all yet, but I have picked up on some of the Southern Hospitality since moving to North Carolina. So come on in and make yourself at home. But first let me show you around the front porch.
I have to admit, I've never been a huge fan of flocked Christmas trees or greenery but something about it this year just drew me in. And before I knew it I was flocking everything.
I've included lots of non traditional colors into my decor this year. You'll find pinks, grays and soft greens as well as lots and lots of white. I found these giant pink poinsettias at Costco the other day and even though I thought I was done decorating for Christmas they still managed to sneak their way into my cart.
I found my wreath and garland already flocked. I'm really pleased that it is heavily flocked. It makes it look really snowy! Then I embellished it with some faux seeded Eucalyptus. You'll find touches of this all over my home this year. A light pink satin ribbon completes the look.
I added my old sled (not quite sure it's considered vintage yet so we'll just say old for now), vintage ice skates and old ski poles. The good thing about these items is that they can stay up for awhile after Christmas for winter decor.
Things just get lighter and brighter when you come inside. I recently painted my walls white to match the trim and I'm loving it. I added more flocked garland and alpine trees that I used spray flock on. And a fluffy layer of snow for the alpine forest floor.
I also recently painted the inside of my front door in Benjamin Moore Sterling and I love it. It's such a soft blueish gray and helps keep the entry light and bright even though it doesn't get sunny in the front of the house until afternoon.
Here's a better look at the front door and the rug that started my pink and gray color scheme. And your getting a sneak preview of the tree I have set up in my office.
I tried to only incorporate certain colors and textures into my holiday decor. Blush, soft grays and wood tones to warm things up. It also helps keep the look cohesive throughout the house.
Much of what I used to decorate are items I already have in my Christmas collection. These birch bark angel wings were a project I made a few years ago. You can see the tutorial here.
I've had these lanterns out since I found them on clearance over the summer. Just filling them up with snow and twinkle lights makes them Christmas ready.
