The color palette is bright, warm and happy. A different color dominates each area of the canvas, from orange to green, white, and blue.
This painting celebrates the grand forests of the American west! A low autumn sun floods the ancient redwood forest with brilliant white light.
Most of the trees are giant sequoias. The yellow-orange leaves of a big-leaf maple tree fill the foreground on the left.
The title, “Emerging Autumn” references the first brightly colored fall leaves as the season begins to shift.
Peeking through layers of foliage up into the sunny sky, we get a feeling of moving into the future.
The woods are alive. Bright green moss grows on the rough bark of the redwood trunk in the foreground.
We get a sense of space and fresh open air, but also of being sheltered beneath the tree canopy.
The overall feeling of this image is positive, full of gratitude and optimism.
This image is a fantasy of nature exploration that brings the great outdoors to an indoor space.
