How to Incorporate Your Favorite Sweater Into Your Summer Wardrobe

Summer is coming and it's time to break out the sleeveless! For those who work in an office, finding the right summer gear can be a challenge. There are plenty of sharp-looking summer dresses in both short-sleeved and sleeveless styles, but bare arms aren't always appropriate in the business world. Also, air conditioning levels in restaurants and retail establishments can leave many of us feeling chilled.

While bare skin is generally frowned upon at the office, it is appropriate to relax a bit. You can put your favorite sweater to work in the office by rolling or pushing up the sleeves.

This useful garment can also be the one that you carry. If your office is cool enough to require a sweater, as most are, go ahead and wear it as you would in the winter months. As you leave the office, slip it off and either loop it over your shoulders or fold it over your arm. If you're meeting at a restaurant for lunch, you'll probably need it!

A great day at the beach requires a tote, some sunglasses and a cover-up, so why not put your favorite sweater to work over your suit? If it's long enough, it can serve as a drape to help you warm up as you leave the water.

Cotton sweaters will dry quickly if they get splashed. Take care not to expose them to

  • tinted suntan lotion
  • lots of chlorine
  • too much salt water

and make sure you shake the sand out of them before putting them in the laundry.

No matter where you're going or what you're doing, you'll be moving from areas of extreme heat to extreme cool. Carrying that favorite sweater with you and layering up as you move from space to space is a great way to make sure that you don't get the shivers as you enter the grocery or a work meeting.

Air conditioning, one of the greatest comforts of modern living, means that we need to be ready for some chilly temperatures any time we move from outdoors to indoors. If you have a favorite sweater, travel with it! Keep this useful garment with you as the summer progresses so you always have it close, either to loop around your shoulder and ward off the chill, or to slip on and stay cozy no matter how extreme the setting on the air conditioning.
