How I Stay Positive When I'm Under The Weather / Blogtober
It might only be the beginning of the month, but already I've had a bit of a cold and I know a lot of you reading this are feeling the same (I see you all on Twitter!). Here's how I stay positive when I'm under the weather.
1 - Embrace It
This might seem ridiculous because no-one likes feeling ill, but life is always so hectic that being ill forces us to slow down. Embrace slowing down with open arms - as much as you physically feel like crap, mentally it gives you a bit of a siesta. If that's not doing it for you, think of it this way, being ill means you can walk around in a dressing gown and Christmas PJ's, you can take an afternoon nap, down a hot toddie, eat takeaways and cry for no real reason all without any judgment. Win.
2 - Take A Long Bath
I find baths so indulgent and rarely find the time to fit one in but being ill means taking 'me' time which is why whenever I'm feeling under the weather, I grab all my favorite products, my kindle, a gin & lemonade (none of that crappy soda!), some candles and head for a bath.
3 - Laugh
The last thing anyone wants to do when they're feeling ill is laugh, but shoving on a Friends boxset or watching something funny on youtube ALWAYS gets me laughing and feeling much more positive. I asked my Nana (she's 83) what her secret to living a healthy life is and she said 'Just laugh, doll. Life's too serious. It'll work out the way it's supposed to in the end up'. She's 100% right!
4 - Go Outside
Now, I'm not telling you to go to town and spread your germs, but going outside and just taking in your surroundings will stop the cabin fever attached to feeling like crap.
5 - Listen To Music
No, not your breakup playlist. Put something on that reminds you of happy times, something that makes you feel powerful and energized.
6 - If all else fails, lie in a dark room and drink some hot chocolate. Always seems to work for me!
Get well soon!
