Homemade Granola Recipe For Tennis Players

By Kselz @TennisFixation

I made a special breakfast treat for the holidays this year and knew that you all would enjoy it too. Here’s the recipe for my Homemade Granola, perfect at breakfast and as a whole grain snack. And perfect for tennis players too!

Healthy Homemade Granola Recipe for Tennis Players

I’ve been making this granola for years now and thought it would be a quick and easy breakfast for my family on Christmas morning. The nice thing about granola is that it’s nutritious and filling. And when you make it yourself, it’s packed with all natural ingredients – no artificial flavors or preservatives.

This granola is great on its own as a snack. But you can also eat it like cereal, by adding milk. I served it to my family as part of a make-your-own fruit, yogurt and granola bar. They loved it.

The recipe is simple and uses ingredients you may already have on hand:

While I make mine with raisins, you can customize your granola with other dried fruits, nuts, seeds, wheat germ or whatever sounds good to you.

When finished, you can keep the granola in Mason jars in your pantry for about a month. It also makes a wonderful homemade gift to share with your friends, neighbors and, of course, your tennis pals.

And here’s the recipe for you:

Homemade Granola Recipe

Makes about 2 1/2 quarts

5 cups old-fashioned oatmeal
1/2 cup powdered instant skim milk
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Pinch of salt
2/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1/3 cup honey (or you can use pure maple syrup)
1/2 cup raisins (or you can use other dried fruits)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Prepare a 10″ x 14″ baking pan by spraying with vegetable oil spray (if you don’t have a pan that large, you can use two smaller pans).

In the pan, mix together oatmeal, milk powder, cinnamon and salt. Set aside.

In a medium pot, mix together brown sugar, vegetable oil and honey. Heat over medium heat until sugar is dissolved and syrup forms. Pour the syrup over the oatmeal mixture and mix well.

Place baking pan in oven and bake for 10 minutes. Remove pan from oven and stir oatmeal mixture. Bake for another 10 minutes and remove pan from oven. Add raisins to oatmeal mixture and stir. Bake for another 5 minutes.

Remove pan from oven and let granola cool in pan. Store granola in airtight containers.

Enjoy your holidays and Happy Tennis!
