2013 6 HowkinsPR 187 620x413 HEYWARD HOWKINS RAW, LUSH TRACK BE FRANK, FURNESS [PREMIERE]

We’re here to talk about Heyward Howkins, the pet project of singer-songwriter John Howkins (The Trouble With Sweeney, The Silver Ages) whose sophomore record, Be Frank, Furness, will be released this November — but today, you can get a taste of the goodness to come with our premiere of its title track. Lodged somewhere between folk and Americana, Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen, midnight and morning, Heyward Howkins paints raw-knuckled, whiskey-sodden notions with his delicately jarring style of songwriting. Heartache and exhaustion bleed through the raw yet lush tracks, leaving more behind than they initially begin with and sparking images both haunting and captivating. Listen to the premiere of “Be Frank, Furness” above, a song sure to leave behind traces of a story to be revisited and an urge to hear more come November.
