If you spend your time looking through holiday destinations, knowing full well that you will never be able to afford to go to them, then you will know how frustrating this can be. You may feel as though there are people out there who are living your dream, and you may even feel as though no matter what you do, you just can't change what's going on in your life right now. You should however note that it is more than possible for you to travel the world without quitting your job, and when you put the work in, you will soon find that there are endless destinations available for you to choose from. The world is your oyster!
Visualise your Goals
It's so important that you are able to sit down and ask yourself, what is important to you? Flesh out all of your travel dreams in as much detail as you possibly can. There have been countless studies done on this and they all show that the more you visualise yourself doing something, the more likely you are to achieve your dreams. Of course, you also need to try and make it a reality as well, so don't focus on destinations that are out of your budget. Focus on places that are realistically affordable and also try and concentrate on places you can actually get to. For example, if you are prone to travel sickness then a super long drive may be out of the question, so set goals that are achievable for you.
Book Way in Advance
This will save you a small fortune. It will also stop you from having to postpone anything at the last minute as well so that you can go on your travels. If you plan things in advance, then you will be far less likely to back out of them at a later date. On top of this, you will also find that it is a great way for you to save a ton of money as well. You can even access deals and discounts that would not normally be available, and this can really help you to make the most out of the budget you have. By booking in advance, you can also compare prices and choose the right travel agent for your trip. If you book a trip at the last minute then you may end up making bad decisions and you may also find it hard to feel confident in your trip.
Learn to Prioritise
When you have committed to making your travel a priority, you will then be far less tempted to spend a small fortune on lunch every single day. It doesn't matter how busy or how poor you think you are, because you should always try and make adventuring your priority, When you do this, you will soon find that you have way more money left over at the end of the week and you will also find that you are able to enjoy yourself more as well. One problem that a lot of people have is they think spending a little bit of money now and again doesn't make a difference to their savings. For example, you may go out and buy a cup of coffee for $5 and think that you are getting a good deal. When you look at what $5 could buy you in Bulgaria or even in Thailand however, you will soon see that it isn't a good investment or value for money at all. When you look at things in this way, you will soon see that there are way better things that you could be spending your money on.
Deadlines
It's very easy for you to delay travel because you are tired from the daily grind. If you are a true nomad on the other hand then travel won't be an extra that you do whenever you have time. It should be part of your life, so force yourself to set deadlines and push yourself to achieve as much as you possibly can. When you do this, you can then avoid the dreaded saying "one day".
Small Steps
You may feel overwhelmed when you think about how many places you are yet to get out there and see. This is very understandable, and it can be made worse when you think about your full-time job as well. This can leave you feeling like a failure, but you shouldn't let this get in the way of what you want to achieve. Instead, try and take small steps. When you do this, you can then accomplish your goal of seeing the world without having to worry about a thing. You can also start to take steps in the right direction as well. So the next time you don't think that you have time to see somewhere, just book somewhere small and go from there.
Your Weekends
Did you know that you have over 100 days of weekend a year? That equals over three months a year. For this reason, you should never limit travel to your annual leave. You would be surprised at how easy it is for you to get to certain destinations. Sure, travelling may be the last thing you need when you have had a hard week, but you know that when you arrive, all of that tiredness will disappear. You will also be so proud of yourself, and you will be happy that you did it. Sure, you might want to spend more than a single weekend out travelling and this is understandable but doing this is far better than doing nothing. If you want to save money then you may want to look into a room for rent.
You Don't Always Need to Get on a Plane
If you are a nomad then you can find a lot of adventure in your own back garden. Sure, sometimes it is not practical for you to get on a plane and then go to a completely new country. This is understandable, but if you open up your eyes to what is around you then you will soon find that there is plenty for you to explore on your doorstep. You will probably have a ton of fun showing your friends around your home city, so try and hold onto that enthusiasm and use it for yourself. Branch out a little and try and see some new places. You could even set the goal to try a new place every single week. It doesn't even matter if it is a bagel shop, because at least you are pushing yourself to try new experiences. Your country is full of adventures, and when you start to look out for them, you will soon see that you don't need to get on a plane in order to quench your thirst for adventure.
Your Family Holiday
Backpacking can be tough to say the least and this is especially the case when you have a ton of money put to one side for your family holiday. Avoid the tourist traps and also make sure that you use your knowledge to try and go off the beaten path. When you do things like this, you will soon find that you can combine the best of both worlds. You can go and visit the people you love while also taking in a brand-new experience. Things like this can really make a huge difference to your experience and they can also make it much easier to enjoy yourself as well. If you are going on a long flight to see family and you have to change-over then why not plan on doing something in that country before you move onto the next? You could wander around the city for a few hours or you could even book a hotel and take in the night-life.
