Gun Control in Chiraq, Gun Control Narrative & Engaging the Gun Grabbers (Bonus: Shannon Watts Blocked Me on Twitter)

By Eowyn @DrEowyn

How’d that gun control work in Chiraq this past weekend? Just as expected…

3 dead, 19 wounded in weekend shootings across Chicago

Chiraq has some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation. Yet every weekend, people are shot dead on the streets. People fighting and end up killed. Drive-by shootings. You get the picture. Read all the details here of the latest gun violence in Chiraq this past weekend.

Same thing every weekend in Chiraq, yet the gun grabbers won’t discuss this because it doesn’t fit their narrative.

stoopid

The liberals and gun grabbers want you to believe that gun violence in America is getting worse all the time. Yet the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) has some statistics that shoot a hole in that narrative.

AEI retrieved data from the Centers for Disease Control that showed that there were 7 firearm-related homicides for every 100,000 Americans in 1993. By 2013 (most recent year available), the gun homicide rate had fallen by nearly 50% to only 3.6 homicides per 100,000 population. See their full analysis here.

You cannot discuss this rationally with those who want more gun laws – it is nearly impossible. On Twitter this weekend I tried to engage some people. Here’s what happened:

  • Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. She tweeted to someone that “Only stronger laws can do that” (in reference to reducing gun violence). I asked her, “Like the laws in Chiraq & Baltimore? #2A”. Her response? She blocked me. (The other person that was involved in the conversation never replied to me.)
  • @wdwvacationdad: He asked me what I use an AR-15 for. I said, “practice, practice, practice.” He said, “to kill.” I said, “Got that right. Kill (or stop threat) if attempting break in to my home & harm me.” He then said, “If someone hurt my family, I’m relying on the Law. I’m not a vigilante.” I tried to respond to that brilliant analysis (you know, when seconds count the police are minutes away) but he blocked me.
  • @Amber_Coffman: The conversation included her saying, “well while, you all sit back and refuse to face the numbers and take action, people will keep dying.” I asked, “so my #2A right should be removed because of criminals’ actions?” Her response, “no, but if u r a decent person who doesn’t just care abt yourself, you’ll want better restrictions.” She retweeted this, “Gun fanatics have inflexible, codified beliefs, scriptures, a clergy. Don’t pretend to be Christian — guns is your religion.”

So in a nutshell: 1) Question others about current strict gun laws – get blocked, 2) rely on law enforcement to arrive in time instead of protecting yourself, and 3) if you don’t want better gun restrictions you are selfish.

You can implement all the gun laws you want (but we know it’s really gun confiscation they’re after) it will not stop a criminal. You cannot control/legislate their evil intentions. Until that is solved, I’ll be exercising my Second Amendment right.
