He popped the question and she said yes. That was where my Mission Gummy Bear Bridesmaid began.

I wasn’t a huge planner for my own wedding. An intimate reception and a dreamy honeymoon were all I wanted. During the whole trip we pretty much played everything by ear apart from the visit to les 3 marches de Catherine b (vintage Chanel heaven!). When it comes to being a bridesmaid though it’s a different story. I know my bride-to-be girlfriend C is a planning queen and I wouldn’t want to disappoint her. Her big day isn’t till March next year but it’s never too early to test some cocktail recipes for the bridal shower, am I right?

:)

Deciding on the theme for her bridal shower was a no-brainer – it’s going to be gummy bear filled! I couldn’t even count how many girls’ night in we spent watching Sex And The City while devouring bowls of gummy bears. I was initially searching for gummy bear cupcakes inspirations when I came across this evil twin of Haribo gummy bears. Come meet these mighty boozy gummy bears, my lovelies! Bathed in your choice of alcohol, these boozy bears might still look as innocent as they typically are, yet I can say they’re fully weaponised for the kill.

So here’s the idea I got from researching on Pinterest: let’s make gummy bear cocktails with these drunken gummies, shall we? With their rainbow shades they’re going to make some awesome party drinks and also look wonderful in photos! And if anyone’s got to trial the recipes and taste them, it has to be the bridesmaid, right? Tough gig, I know, but someone’s got to do it!

Last weekend I got my hands dirty and tested these two recipes below. Read on as I need your vote!

Tropicana

Rum infused gummy bears in coconut juice, milk, Midori and Rum cocktail – think Cuba or Mexico!

Ingredients (serve two):

♥ A large bag of Haribo gummy bears (or jelly babies)

♥ 430 ml of Rum (I used Barbados Rum)

♥ 30 ml of Midori

♥ Dash of milk

♥ Whole coconut

♥ Pieces of ice (I put ice cubes into a blender)

Instructions:

1. Soak gummy bears for at least 8 hours in a glass container with 400ml of Rum – these gummy bears do drink a lot and will soak up most of the rum!

2. Smash open a fresh coconut. Try to make two even halves so you can use them as the cocktail bowls.

3. Keep the coconut juice from the coconut.

4. In a mixer, add 30 ml of Rum, Midori, coconut juice, a dash of milk and ice.

5. Shake well and serve in the coconut bowls.

6. Spoon a couple of Rum infused gummies into the cocktail.

7. Pierce the bottom of gummy bears with toothpicks and garnish on the side of your coconut bowls – Viola!

Sex and The City

Warning: I challenge you not to judge the book by its cover until you try one of these alcohol infused bears! Watch out for the yellow ones (my fav) as it seems they possess some sort of Bruce Lee plus Kill Bill’s style fierceness.

In the end I had way too much fun intoxicating these gummy bears and haven’t got around to worry about my cupcakes. I’ve decided to leave them to our local professional at Noosh Catering to work their magic. After all, having a stressed out bridesmaid is the last thing anyone wants for a wedding, right? I’m sure my girlfriend C will agree.

;)
