Grey Goose Fruits de Fête Champagne Cocktail

Of course I should be posting this cocktail either tomorrow on Friday Cocktails which would sort of miss the whole New Year's Eve thing entirely...or two days ago for some advance preparation but we are today! I woke up on my birthday almost three weeks ago with both a nasty cold and a computer that would not start and the cold combined with all other Christmas prep saw me let my poor computer languish and I limped along with a laptop that didn't have all of my software I depend on. This week was that 'enough is enough' moment and I finally bought a new power supply and installed it Wednesday night so while the computer is back in business I've sure had a lot of emails to deal with. I use Outlook and download my email and keep it all carefully organized in folders for review and followup. Dealing with email on my phone or online? I don't know how people do that! Did I miss something in reviewing thousands of emails; I sure hope not but fingers are firmly crossed and now I can get back to the more important business at hand. COCKTAILS!

Grey Goose Fruits de Fête Champagne Cocktail

The good news about this Fruits de Fête cocktail from Grey Goose is that it's a simple cocktail with a combination of juices and Grey Goose Le Citron Vodka. I love this vodka, it's has all the great qualities of Grey Goose but with a subtle lemon flavor; perfect for so many of the cocktails I love making. While I may call it a champagne cocktail; the truth is it's more of a Prosecco or Cava cocktail; I never waste my money on the higher priced French stuff when sparkling wines from Italy and Spain serve me just as well. Costco even carries what I would call my 'house bubbly!'

While offering this cocktail today as a New Year's libation, the truth is that it would be perfect for brunch all year long; it's not unlike a mimosa but with a variety of fruit elements and of course a bit of vodka. True story. I never fake it when I make it. Getting those bubbles for a photo is often the result of filling the glass again and again until I get it right. Sooooo...when I did this the other day, I sort of forgot that I had not eaten for several hours, I was using a straw to remove the liquid from the glasses and when I was done? Let's just say I was a bit giddy and especially glad that my friend Amy was doing the driving on a trip we had planned. Not drunk...nope, never. But yes, a bit giggly. Which was sort of fun. :)
