Sometimes, the gravel corridors or driveways are neglected by the homeowners due to any reason, resulting in the appearance of overgrown weeds in that area.

We will recommend worthwhile ways to prevent and solve this problem if you are also a victim.

Gravel Drive Weeds Prevention

Prevention is the first thing that you need to do before you start placing gravel drives if you want the area free of weeds in the future, and make it look nice and clean.

Use Weed killer

You should get any good quality weed killer from the market and use it in the area where you have planned to install the gravel drive. Using glyphosate-based weed killer is the best option to kill the already grown weeds and prevent them in future. This type of weed killer kills all the surrounding plants and creates a spotless and plain ground for laying gravel drive.

Use Barrier

Before placing the gravel in your driveway or pathway, be sure to lay a barrier that can effectively stop the weeds from reaching the surface of the gravel. There are two options regarding barriers.

The first is weeds controller fabric. This type of fabric does not allow the weeds to come out of the gravel and appear to be seen on the gravel surface. It acts as an obstacle for the weeds in between the soil and gravel.

The second option is to use weeds controller plastic sheets. These sheets act as a shield between the soil and the gravel layer to keep away the weeds from coming up to the soil and reach the surface of the gravel. They also have a property to kill the existing weeds from the roots because of their black color. Black color does not allow enough light to pass and does not nourish weeds to make them grow freely. It is very convenient to assemble, cut and lay down on any type of ground.
