Have you ever wondered if God has a plan for your life, or if the events of your life are just random and chaotic? Have you ever thought about the importance of the relationships you have with family and friends, and why certain people are even in your life? Have you thought about where you will spend eternity? It has been said that God has a plan for your life, and it’s a good plan.

When I first saw this book available for review, I almost passed on it.  Then, a few weeks later I received another email about its availability and I decided it was maybe God speaking just a little louder to me to read this book so I accepted.

Have you ever wondered if God has a plan for your life, or if the events of your life are just random and chaotic? Have you ever thought about the importance of the relationships you have with family and friends, and why certain people are even in your life? Have you thought about where you will spend eternity?

As it says in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plan I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” That definitely sounds like a good plan to me.

If anyone knows the definition of sacrifice, it would be James Meyer. Even though he knew that it would alter his life, Meyer made the choice to give up marriage and children to take care of his ill parents on top of working full-time. After seeing a general decline in the family unit and family values, Meyer knew that he would much rather be with his parents than anything else.

When Meyer lost both of his parents a few years back, his whole world shifted. Yes, he felt depressed and lonely, but it was through his relationship with Jesus Christ that saved him. He started to realize that God had a plan for his life, even if he didn’t know about it. In his new book, God Knows, Meyer takes readers on the journey of grieving and how, through Jesus Christ, their pain can be revived to hope. Individuals will not only find healing through Meyer’s vulnerability, but will also realize the importance of family.

Using his own life experiences, and those of his parents, James W. Meyer takes you on a very personal and emotional journey of faith and trust. He explores events that happened and the ultimate effect of those events that have led him to his current place in life; the very place God always intended for him to be. Meyer reminds us that God also places family and friends in our lives for a very special reason, and we shouldn’t take them-or any of the other blessings from God-for granted.

Meyer was inspired to write this book following the death of his beloved mother, and he takes readers through the recesses of their thoughts and feelings and shows a path out as one who’s walked it. Later in the book, Meyer takes the reader on a beautiful and simple journey through the Gospel and salvation. With his simple, but deep, faith genuinely expressed through his stories, Meyer brings readers to a soft landing in the arms of God and the assurance of His purpose in your life.

I accepted the opportunity to read this book shortly after the loss of my beloved pup, Petey. Although Petey wasn’t my son, and he wasn’t even a person, he was my beloved pet and he meant the world to me. He passed on October 6, 2015 and as I type this sentence, tears are coming to my eyes. I have visited pet shop after pet shop, held puppy after puppy and not one time did I forget about Petey. This book walks readers through the process of mourning the loss of a loved one and many of the points in the book touched upon my heart. Mr. Meyer shares Bible verses applicable to the topic, many of which I have studied and held close throughout my walk of healing from my loss of Petey.
