Florida Diaries #1 | Tampa Riverwalk + St. Pete’s + Ybor City

By Poorva @beautifuljrny

I wrote this post over a month back and I didn’t really have a series planned for this , yet I already titled it with a number. And as a self fulfilling prophecy I now already have #2 , #3 coming super soon 😀 and a lot more of Florida left to explore too!!

Florida Diaries #1 | Tampa Riverwalk + St. Pete’s + Ybor City

I moved to the ‘Sunshine State’ about 6 months back and when I moved I was super super excited about it. I have visited a number of different places in the US before this and somehow always missed Florida so it was always on the top of my list to travel to. And when I got a new job in Florida, ah as they say God has a funny way of planning your life.

Whether it fulfilled my fantasies or not is a story for another day but today I want to show you Tampa Bay from the eyes of a Florida newbie.

All these pictures were taken in February, the weather was lovely then, it was much cooler and I was like an excited kid exploring a new place.

I had a friend visiting and we went to a couple of places in and around Tampa.
First stop was the Riverwalk in Tampa downtown. A lovely place to spend evenings watching the skyline on one side and calm and peaceful water on the other.

There are a number of restaurants and bars as well on the riverside.
My favorites in Tampa downtown – India’s grill Kennedy, it’s a small indian restaurant with amazing food.  Also, Si-Am is a MUST TRY. I love Thai food and this has one of the best I’ve had. Amazing flavors. My all time favorite though is more inside north of Tampa – Hyderabad biryani house, oh my this is the best of the best indian food. I always do take away from here when I need some soul- fulfilling indian food. And my sushi favorites – Sushi Avenue, and SoHo Sushi.

Oh and yes SoHo tampa area has a lot of lovely places. Try SoHo Juice Co.

Another great place if you want some clean healthy eating is The Nutrition Factory , I take away from here almost every week. It is super clean food with veggies and whatever meat you want very simple no extra stuff.

I have sooooo many food recommendations constantly, so for that catch me on Instagram as I share them all on my stories.

Next up I have today is St.Pete’s beach. It’s such a beautiful white sand beach, absolutely gorgeous my favorite so far.

And the amazing Sunshine Skyway bridge to get there just makes the place more fun!

Also, the city of St Petersburg is so so lovely I can’t put it in words. I’m in love with the charm of this place, it has an old world aura to it and feels amazing to be there. Since then I have explored a lot more of St Pete and I love it more and more.

My friend captured the sunset beautifully at St Pete.

Some places I recommend here are-

The Moon Under Water it’s a British pub with food influenced by all the British colonies and they make nice Indian curries, rice and naan. Also, if you’re ever in the Tampa Bay Area you MUST go to First Watch for breakfast or brunch, amazing food, staff and ambience. Love it.

And last for today, but the best – Ybor City. I’ve visited it very less till now but oh how I love it! It’s so vibrant and the highlight of Tampa. Best for its nightlife and amazing to hang out.

Every picture from Ybor looks like a postcard ❤

Love this cute little place at Ybor-
