You made it your mission to get a good race photo, but sometimes, despite your best efforts, you end up with a bunch of race photo fails. This is the tale of race photos gone wrong.

So last week I shared my awesome experience at the Philadelphia Marathon. As I mentioned, Angela and I didn’t have any time goals for this race (though I did PR!). Our main mission was to just have fun and finish the race injury free. We also decided that whenever we saw an official race photographer, we were going to pose like we were having the best time ever. Even if we were sweaty and gross and our feet were on fire and all we wanted to do was scream at the world for inventing this crazy thing called the marathon and curse ourselves for being stupid enough to pay for such torture, the second a fancy camera appeared, we were going to smile and wave and jump and act like we were having the best time ever. Fake it ‘til you make it right?!

Things were going pretty well. We spied a few photographers along the course and always posed. Look at us having the best time ever (Please take a second to note the colors of our shirts. You’ll need this information later on.):

We didn’t even see this sneaky photographer, but look how happy we are!

And then we crossed the finish line. Triumph and smiles all around.

Mission accomplished. Or so we thought.

Most finishers’ shoots offer a photo opp where finishers can pose with their medals in front of a backdrop. Despite being in all kinds of pain, Angela and I were going to get our finisher pictures. I put on my best what-are-you-talking-about-my-legs-don’t-feel-like-they’re-about-to-fall-off-at-all face and the photographer snapped away. This is the result…

My first thought was, “Wait a second, I wasn’t wearing purple.” That was quickly followed by, “Holy $h*t! Were the heck is Angela’s body? She’s a ghost! I ran a whole race with a ghost! Do I have the sixth sense?!” I was about to head to a graveyard to see if I could see all the dead people when common sense kicked in, and I realized they’d green screened the image so that they could do this:

Note to Philadelphia Marathon Photo peeps: maybe you should warn people not to wear green?

These race photo fails are hysterical! Check them out & join the #fitnfashionable Link Up!

I’m pretty bummed the original, un-green screened image wasn’t posted. I might have bought a photo package if it had, but it does make for quite a funny story.
