Final Fantasy 15 Has No Character Switching, Kingdom Hearts 3 Director Talks “Burning Anger”
The director for Final Fantasy 15 has given us some new details on what's to come from the game, also some new details on Kingdom Hearts 3.
Speaking up to resolve any confusion surround the matter of character switching, the game’s director Hajime Tabata has said (via Gematsu), “Everyone on the development team thoroughly looked into an Active Cross Battle system that made free use of attack, guard, and co-op functions, but as a result they arrived at the conclusion that changing characters would be too difficult. In order to create a new and interesting battle system, we ended up not being able to put in the character switching.”
Also, former Final Fantasy XV director and current Kingdom Hearts 3 director Tetsuya Nomura delivered a message to fans in the recent Kingdom Hearts Memorial Ultimania guide. He described how he goes about development for the game these days.
“If I had to pick, I am a person more on the dark side like Xehanort and co., I harness the burning anger in my heart into what I create. Kingdom Hearts 3’s current development explodes very much in this sense. Each time, it’s a battle with Sora and co. who are the exact opposite of myself, it’s been over 10 years and yet we haven’t reached a conclusion.
“This battle will surely last longer.
“In Kingdom Hearts 3 as well, I am scheming many challenges that Sora and his friends must overcome, because I myself cannot lose either. And in preparation for the great battle that lies ahead, we have this one book that looks back on their entire journey.
“When I think about it, I had an explosive mindset when I made the first Kingdom Hearts as well.”
