In Dubai, many amazing buildings and wonders of modern technology await you, including 200 artificial islands forming a map of the world. Now sit down comfortably - we invite you to read the most important information about this city.Where is Dubai?
Dubai is one of the seven emirates forming the United Arab Emirates together. The state lies on the Persian and Oman Gulf in the eastern part of the Arabian Peninsula, and borders with Saudi Arabia and Oman.
Dubai is the capital of the emirate of the same name. The metropolis is famous in the world for innovative ideas and solutions in construction. The city since 2001 is still in the process of building the Palm Islands, i.e. a set of three largest artificial islands in the world, shaped like palm trees, bearing the names Jumeirah, Jebel Ali and Deirah. Dubai is one of the largest and richest cities in the United Arab Emirates, which invests mainly in real estate, banking and tourism.
Thanks to significant resources from oil extraction, Dubai and other emirates can invest in other sectors of the economy, such as the development of the world's innovative sea water desalination technology and the Hydropolis project, an underwater hotel. Dubai is the fastest growing city in the UAE, not only economically but also culturally, thanks to emerging museums, libraries, galleries, music and dance schools. The city is also famous for many hotels that have the highest world standards.
Trip to Dubai - Tourist attractions, places worth visiting
When planning a stay in Dubai, it is worth remembering a few places that you must visit. Here are 11 places you must go:
1. Jumeirah Mosque
One of the largest mosques in Dubai and at the same time the only one open to tourists. The beautiful design and finish made in the medieval Fatimid style make the building an impressive impression, especially in the evenings at sunset. Thanks to the Center for the Agreement on Cultures Sheikh Mohammed organizes tours of the mosque as part of the "Open doors, open minds" policy, preceded by a lecture aimed at bringing visitors closer to Islamic culture and religion itself. The dress of the visitors is an important and extremely followed matter. Women must have covered shoulders and knees and have a headgear in the form of a scarf or hat, while men in turn must wear long pants and a shirt, but not necessarily with short sleeves.
2. Markets in Deira
Deira is one of the oldest districts of Dubai and at the same time a place where tradition is combined with modernity. In this district there are 4 the most famous marketplaces, whose visit must be a must on every trip to Dubai.
3. The Gold Bazaar
The most famous bazaar, famous in the world since the 1940s. Extremely rich and varied, offering virtually any type of jewelry, from earrings and rings through pendants and necklaces to bracelets. All kinds of precious stones and metals are offered, such as gold, silver, platinum, diamonds, emeralds, rubies, sapphires and other precious items. An additional attraction is the opportunity to bargain for the price of products, however, it should be remembered that the price of gold itself depends on the global prices of this ore on a given day. The bazaar is best visited in the late afternoon or early evening.
4. Fish market
Unlike the gold bazaar, you should go to the fish market early in the morning. It is one of the largest fairs of this type in the area, and you can get any species of fish or seafood that is available in the waters of the Persian Gulf. You can choose at will, and you can also prepare purchased specialties on site. Here you can and even bargain for the price of fish. An important issue is the transport of purchased seafood, so you can not travel with them by metro, although it is the fastest and easiest way. Appropriate markings are placed at the entrances to the station.
5. Spice market
The name can be a bit confusing because not only spices are available at this market. You can also buy herbs and delicacies here, and the smell that spreads around this part of Deiru is simply stunning. Spices are arranged in various ways giving the impression of an artistic exhibition, not a place to buy herbs.
6. Textile market
By far the most colorful market where you can find fabrics in all the colors of the rainbow, clean and embroidered in various designs. Not only delicate canvases are available there, you can also buy various types of rugs.
7. Burdz Chalifa
It is the highest building in the world, having 163 usable and measuring floors, up to 829 meters high. Its construction began in 2004 and ended 5 years later. On the highest levels, the building has observation floors, from which there is an amazing view of the entire Dubai and the surrounding area.
8. Ras al Khor Wildlife Refuge
The reserve is located in wetlands located in the north-east of Dubai. Ras al Khor is the first site in the United Arab Emirates to be included in the saddlery list as a wetland of international significance. Due to the possibility of observing wildlife, special hiding places in the reserve allow observation of animals without disturbing them. You can admire, among others seedlings, ospreys, marsh harriers, small seedlings and flamingos.
9. Old Town of Al Fahidi
It is one of the oldest parts of Dubai, historic, and in addition the last one having traditional ventilation faith. Currently, most buildings have cafes, art galleries and small shops.
10. The Dubai Museum
The museum is located in the old part of the city of Al Fahidi, in a former fort built in 1787. It is probably the oldest building in Dubai, which in various parts of its history served as a palace, garrison and prison. Currently, the collections of the museum located there can admire archaeological excavations, objects related to the life of the Dubaiians in the past and photographs taken from an aerial view showing how the city has changed since the 1950s.
11. Ski Dubai
This is one of the most unusual objects in Dubai. It is the first ski slope in the Middle East, fully equipped and snow-covered. The building is also unique in the world, because despite the fact that there are closed tracks, in this case it was possible to create real winter conditions in the middle of the desert. There are 5 different downhill runs, of varying difficulty, with varying heights and inclinations, of which the longest track is 400 m. The entire hall, which has been specially designed and constructed, has a height of over 25 floors. The price of one subscription gives you a suitable suit, shoes and all necessary equipment for 2 hours. The price does not include hats and gloves, so you should have them with you or buy them in the ski store, because the temperature is constant at -2ºC.
