Fall 2014 Fashion Trends for Your Teenage Daughter That Won’t Break the Bank

By Upliftingfam @upliftingfam

Teen Girl Top Fashion Trends Fall 2014My daughter is a fashionista and is constantly following the top trends according to magazines like Teen Vouge, Seventeen, Girl’s Life and other popular magazines for teen girls. As a mom, I am careful about what trends I allow her to follow because I am not big on the super sexy low-cut items or short daisy duke shorts. As the temperatures get cooler outside, your teenager is probably pulling out their cozy sweaters, long sleeve shirts, jeans, and their favorite pair of boots. Today, I wanted to share with you some of the top fall 2014 fashion trends for your teenage daughter that won’t break the bank.

BoyFriend Jeans

My daughter tends to wear jeans on a regular basis and they are always in style. However, fashion trends are showing a switch from the skinny jeans to the boyfriend jeans. Don’t worry these jeans aren’t jeans that your daughter got from her boyfriend. Boyfriend jeans are a relaxed fit pair of jeans that are comfortable. They were designed to fit like the jeans that she would possibly borrow from her boyfriend. These jeans are also made so that they fit your daughter properly (since they were specifically designed for a woman’s body) and they love them because they don’t bunch up or sag like other jeans. If your daughter is worried about them looking frumpy or like old lady jeans, have her try on several different pairs until she finds the style that works for her. Just remember that when buying jeans, you should avoid buying jeans with holes in them especially if they are against your child’s dress code.

Purchase Shirts and Sweaters that You Can Mix and Match

Find several tops that you can mix and match. This will help expand your wardrobe and give you plenty of options when it comes to wearing an outfit. When searching for tops, ask yourself if you can tuck it in, wear it out, tie or knot it, or add a belt? A shirt that can do all 4 of these styles is a great shirt because it gives you 4 different ways to wear it. Then ask yourself if the top would look good with a jeans, slacks, or skirt? If so, then you have increased the number of ways that you can wear your outfits to save you money on your child’s wardrobe.

Skip the Hoodie and Add a Cardigan to Your Wardrobe

Skip the hoodie and go for a more sophisticated look by adding a cardigan or jacket to your teenager’s wardrobe. These will be great pieces for your teenager especially when they go to a job interview too. The Cardigan is a lightweight sweater that is usually worn open. A cardigan is light weight and is perfect for a brisk fall day. There are tons of great colors and styles to choose from at Nordstrom or other retailers.
