Faces of Fame- A Boyds to Brooklyn Art Showcase

Craig Hackey, creative director, Apt no 7

When I started working at Quench back in February, I was determined to not only host all fun events there, but to find ways to include my friends and family however possible.  While we’ve hosted a few charity events, happy hours and private events over the past couple of months, I am now very pleased to be helping to promote a very dear friend of mine and his inspiring journey from Boyds to Brooklyn.

Craig Hackey grew up in the Montgomery County and decided he was going to move away one day and not look back; and he’s done exactly that.  He left for Brooklyn to attend school for music production, and has since hosted music festivals, managed album releases and art shows, and has officially made himself a home there- where he is the Creative Director for his self-made agency called Apt No 7.

With all of the prosperity and good fortune now coming his way, Craig is honestly one of the few people I know who set out to achieve his dream, and refused to let anything stand in his way.  He fought to get to where he is, and the universe fought back and times weren’t always so glamorous.  But between his determination, his better half (business partner/fiance, Melissa Patenaude), and his innovation, Craig’s story is one I love sharing with the world.

Ya know how people say “…he just has it. That it factor”?  That’s Craig.  He’s the guy we all knew as a kid that was going places and wasn’t just going to take the road more traveled.  He was always full of positive words, genuine advice and and self-promotion.  He has worked harder than some people I know who will be retiring in the next couple years- and that is probably one of the things I love most about him.

Work Hard, Play Hard.

As I said, he has quite the artistic eye and vision. His previous art show involvement brought him immediately to mind when looking for a fresh, new artist to “brighten up” the walls at Quench.  Craig came up with the theme Faces of Fame because growing up in Boyds, he always wanted to see “Famous Faces” and they weren’t exactly “accessible” in the DC suburbs.  Seeing as this will be his first unveil of personal work, Craig only found it appropriate to bring his work to showcase back home, where the inspiration originated.

Come out to Quench on April 18th from 4-8 and enjoy a fun happy hour, a beautiful showcase of creative genius, craft cocktails and some good company; but most importantly, come to help support a local artist and how far he’s come.
