Emma Currie - Klara

Q. What prompted you to start and complete this EP project during quarantine?

Emma Currie. The EP was actually supposed to be released last year just before summer! But with everything that went on, the timing never felt right. However, I still wanted to put out some music, so I released a cover of one of my favourite Elvis Presley songs called "If I Can Dream", and I wrote a fun Christmas song called "All I Want This Holiday". Once 2021 came around, my team and I knew that just before the summer was the perfect timing to release the EP.

Q. If you could point to the two or three biggest musical influences for you on this EP, who would they be?

EC. Probably Demi Lovato, Dua Lipa, and Charlie Puth.

Q. Similar question, if you could put the songs from Welcome to the Wild on a playlist, what other artists would you add?

EC. For sure Demi, Dua, and Charlie. Also Ariana Grande, Little Mix, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, and The Weeknd.

Q. We first met and talked about your music in 2018, what differences do you see in yourself between then and now as a writer, singer, etc.?

EC. I've opened up about my personal experiences way more now and I have more confidence! I've been writing more about my personal experiences, and it's been very therapeutic. Also, if my listeners have gone through the same things that I have, I want them to know that they're not alone and feel understood.

Q. What do you want the takeaway from this EP and these songs to be for listeners?

EC. This EP is a great introduction to who I am as an artist. These songs are from my personal experiences and my inner thoughts. No filter, just telling it like it is.
