EAT: La Brasserie – Franco-German Cuisine in Vancouver, BC

As I was searching for a European brunch in town, my friend suggested for us to visit La Brasserie on Robson and Davie. This small restaurant features a Franco-German cuisine that’s quite unique to find. Brunch is served here at the hours of 11am-3pm and can be busy during peak hours.

The French-pressed coffee here is extremely fresh and has a strong aroma. Our server was very attentive in letting us know when was the best time for the pressing. A good coffee can always kick start your day, and the ones here can certainly do that for you.

I ordered a Eggs Benedict here that consisted of poached eggs, a spinach salad, and an English muffin. Surprisingly my favorite part of this dish wasn’t the egg, but the salad. This salad was unlike another other that I’ve tasted; Every bite was tasty and the leaves weren’t raw at all. I really do enjoy cooked salads, but they are harder to come across than you would expect.

My friend got the Croque Madame, a classic French dish that has fries, brioche, ham, black forest ham, and a fried egg. The brioche was super soft and had an amazing melt-in-your-mouth texture. Even with the cheese and egg on top, it didn’t seem to greasy either. I’ll probably get this dish for myself next time I visit.

I thoroughly enjoyed my brunch at La Brasserie, it was a nice move away from a traditional ham and eggs breakfast. I can see myself as a regular here because every bit of their meal was so yummy. The prices were also very reasonable too, you should be able to have a dish and a drink for under $20. This restaurant is such a gem in the West End area!
