Does Biotin Cause Acne? And Nature’s Bounty Hair Skin & Nails Gummies Review

By Alyssa Martinez @ItsMariaAlyssa

Every time I'm going to change my hair color, I take hair vitamins because the process takes a lot of chemical process such as bleaching. In my post about tips on bleaching the hair with less damage and pain, I mentioned that I take hair vitamins before bleaching. I do that at least 2 weeks before bleaching just to make sure. But does it really helps the hair? And does biotin causes acne? Know all about it when you scroll down to read my Nature's Bounty Hair Skin & Nails Gummies review.

WHAT IS BIOTIN?

Biotin is sometimes it's referred to as vitamin B7, or as Vitamin H. Biotin is a B complex vitamin that's critical in converting food into energy and helps in the promotion of cell growth. If you don't have enough biotin in your diet, it can lead to hair loss, brittle nails, or itchy skin.

DOES BIOTIN CAUSES ACNE?

According to HBFIT, Vitamin B5, also known as pantothenic acid, is supposed to help with the regulation of the surface layer of the skin. In short, it helps prevent acne. B7 helps with the breakdown and distribution of fatty acids and improve the keratin infrastructure. This creates a gloss on your skin that gives you both a glow and a protective layer. Working together they can give you healthy looking skin.

Vitamin B7 is absorbed through receptors in the intestines, and so is vitamin B5. Because they are both absorbed through the same receptors, if there is an excess of one, there is a deficiency in another.

This means that if you're taking biotin supplements, especially pure biotin, then you won't be able to absorb the vitamin B5 in your diet. This means that the surface of your skin will be more prone to breakouts. It's not that biotin causes acne, but a deficiency in vitamin B5 will. You can read more about it too in Into The Gloss.

PERFORMANCE

INTAKE: Take 2 gummies daily, preferably with a meal.

FLAVOR: It tastes like strawberries, it's sweet and a little sour.

PACKAGING: Since this is for adults, obviously this is packaged with a kid-proof bottle cap. But what I dislike is the bottle is too big, it can be deceiving. Although it is mentioned on the label that it contains either 80 or 220 gummies, it's still quite disappointing to see that it's only almost half the bottle. It's like opening a pack of chips and discovering it contains more air than the actual chips.

TEXTURE: It's really like your favorite gummy candies. It's squishy and easy to chew. Plus, it's delicious. I swear you'll be tempted to eat more than two.

RESULT

When it comes to supplements, the result or improvement varies in a person's metabolism. But for me, around a week of using Nature's Bounty Hair Skin & Nails Gummies, I do notice that my hair is stronger. I have less hair fall, especially when I comb my hair. And although I have naturally thick hair, my hair stylists were always amazed when I feel no pain when they bleach my hair and it can endure it twice without breaking. Plus, my hair still feels so soft and looks shiny after the process. As told by many random strangers that touches my hair asking me iff my hair or its color is real.

As for the claim that it also "clarifies the complexion and reduces acne", I honestly don't know. I find this more effective on the hair. Plus, I have a rigorous skincare routine so I never really relied on this supplement for that.

FAQ

Q: Do you break out from it?

A: I have an acne-prone skin so I always have an acne or two or more. But I never really had a total breakout when I use this skin probably because I often use skincare products with B5 such as It's Skin VB Effector or Tiam My Signature Vita B5 Toner.

Q: Will hair in other parts of my body will also grow

A: No, because this doesn't contain ingredients for hormones.

VERDICT

PROS: It really makes the hair strong, think, and more healthy. It tastes really good like strawberry candy and it is affordable compared to other hair gummy supplements.

CONS: The effect on the skin is not that as good as it claims.
