Disney World and Florida: the Ultimate Family Holiday Destination

For most children, and many parents, Disneyland is the ultimate holiday destination, and it’s also one of the world’s most popular tourism spots. The Walt Disney World resort is located in Orlando, Florida and in this family-orientated state there is much more to see than just the famous roller-coaster rides. Florida attracts a record-breaking 94 million visitors each year who arrive to enjoy the amazing beaches, vibrant cities and of course the most famous theme park in the world. There’s no denying that from the moment children learn of this sunny land of fun-fair rides and magical castles it soon becomes their dream destination. The good news for parents is that Florida is heavily geared towards families, and travel operators offer a range of value for money flights to Florida as well as accommodation to suit every budget and taste. On a two week vacation to Florida you may come for Disney but the resort isn’t the only attraction. The World’s Most Famous Theme Park The Walt Disney World Resort attracts over 15 million visitors per year and boasts the ultimate in theme park attractions. Adults and children can enjoy four immense theme parks, two exciting water parks and of course a wealth of Disney themed shows. Families can choose to stay in the resort itself meaning easy access to all the rides and entertainment or can choose from the many accommodation options in Orlando. Staying in the resort hotels means you also have instant access to the Disney themed restaurants, shops and the amazing Downtown Disney waterfront area. Disney World Attractions All it takes to keep a child happy is a few hours at a funfair and you can easily spend a week at Disney World and still not see everything. Children of all ages will be enthralled by the famous Magic Kingdom Park with its enchanting Cinderella Castle, firework displays and musical parades. Those who love excitement can enjoy the waterslides and giant wave pools at the Typhoon Lagoon water park. Other parks within Disney World include the famous Animal Kingdom, the futuristic Epcot and the roller-coaster rides at the Hollywood studios. Beyond Orlando Florida is an amazingly diverse state offering a huge amount of family based sight-seeing activities that are easily reached from Orlando. The 1900Km² Everglades National Park is a 30 minute drive from Disney World and offers one of America’s most amazing water-based landscapes. You are also only a short drive from some of the best beaches of the world including Cocoa Beach, Clear Water and Daytona Beach. A one hour drive west will take you to the vibrant city of Tampa or take a three hour drive south and enjoy an exhilarating day out in beautiful Miami. There’s probably no other American state that offers such a high concentration of attractions as Florida.
