Queer director Gabrielle Lindau has tackled marriage equality, the complex nature of girl-on-girl dating, the zany real life of a porn star and now she’s taking on…dinosaurs. Which of course, was the next logical step.

Apparently mixing a badass dyke with dinosaur fossils will give you: Dinosaur Hunters. The film will follow a group of adventurers as they journey across America trying to locate fossils and encountering law enforcement officials, extreme weather and oh yeah, each other. Wink, wink. Nudge, nudge.

To give you an idea of what’s in store, Lindau wrote up some of her journey on her blog:

As I climbed throughout the Montana Badlands the expression G.O.D “Great Out Doors” took on a whole new meaning. In the scorching August heat I went on a field expedition into dinosaur territory with a small crew of fossil hunters and a camera in my hand. A local guide from Baisch’s Dinosaur Digs in Glendive, Montana lead the way as we set out on a journey to find the infamous T-Rex (or at least what was left of it). By day three into the trip I started to feel like we literally had traveled back in time, mostly because there were no toilets. Several crew members suffered physical injuries such as dislocated ribs and bruised knees, all due to the brutal landscape we were navigating on.

Giant spiders were trying to murder my lead talent and I kept picking up a bizarre buzzing noise through the camera’s microphone, which I was convinced had to be rattlesnakes (it turned out to be flying locusts). Towards the end of the trip both the beauty and mystery of a world from 95 million years ago was revealing itself. The team discovered the remains of a triceratops and dinosaur bones seemed to be popping up everywhere; dino teeth were even more abundent! I kept thinking darn it, if only my dentist “Dr.Toscano” had  a demand for dino implants as opposed to the standard veneers. Dinosaur Hunter’s test footage will be screening at the New York International Independent Film Festival Film Festival Saturday November 19th at 6 pm.
