It is October and the Halloween/Day of the Dead decorations have been out and all over the stores. Because we celebrate both holidays and because they are within the span of a few days, I love that they are so closely tied together. To me, I think it is encouraging to my children to see their culture in the mainstream.
Most years, we put our our altar to celebrate our loved ones and on the actual Dia de los Muertos, do we leave their favorite foods  overnight to stay as close to the tradition as possible.
Last year I made a LA LECHERA® pan dulce and this year, I am making Polvoroncitos or Mexican Wedding cookies to put at our altar. Both of our grandparents always loved having sweet bread, almost anytime of the day. And it's just a lovely tradition that brings back many memories of running around at a family weddings looking for extra cookies!Dia De Los Muertos Traditions: Polvoroncitos or Mexican Wedding Cookie {Recipe}The ingredients were simple: butter, condensed milk, eggs, walnuts, flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt and plenty of powdered sugar to coat them in when they come out of the oven!Dia De Los Muertos Traditions: Polvoroncitos or Mexican Wedding Cookie {Recipe} Once mixed, make as many cookies as you'd like! This recipe will make about 80 small polvoroncitos!

They were so delicious! Nestle has tons of other Halloween and Dia de Los Muertos recipes on their site, be sure to check them out! You can find favorite dishes like Arroz con Pollo with MAGGI® Chicken Bouillon, or pair with ABUELITA™ Mexican Hot Chocolate.
All ingredients for the polvoroncitos were found at my local H-E-B in the baking aisle, nuts included! Dia De Los Muertos Traditions: Polvoroncitos or Mexican Wedding Cookie {Recipe}
