Un piccolo gioiello in un contesto paesaggistico di grande rilievo: ecco la prima impressione che mi ha fatto Matera quando sono giunta a destinazione.

Matera è una città e una provincia nella regione di Basilicata, nel sud della Italia. La città fu fondata dai Romani nel III secolo a.C, con il nome di Matheola. Nel 1927 divenne provincia. Il 21 settembre 1943, i Materani insorsero contro l'occupazione tedesca.

Ho visto altri esempi nel mondo di abitazioni scavate nella roccia, ma l'ambiente è molto suggestivo a Matera e sembra, soprattutto verso sera quando si illuminano le case, si essere di fronte ad un presepe di dimensioni reali. La cosa sorprendete è che i sassi di Matera furono costruiti con le stesse regole che si seguono oggi per l'edilizia delle case.

Oggi giorno è difficile capire cosa veramente era originario in natura e cosa fu realizzato dall'uomo.

Ovviamente no. Di recente Mel Gibson ha sfruttato questo luogo per il suo film La passione di Cristo, Tornatore per il suo L'uomo e le stelle e molti altri i registri incantati da questa scenografia naturale. Se i registi hanno apprezzato questi luoghi perché non potremmo anche noi?

This location has been noticed by the cinema. Recently Mel Gibson has used this place for his film The Passion of the Christ; Tornatore for its Man and the stars.
