Confessions Of A Jewelry Hoarder | 5 Minute DIY Jewelry Organizer

By Suma @ThFabJunkie
Hey Loves!
It's safe to say that I have a MAJOR costume jewelry problem. I have been working on organizing my jewelry since my teenage years. I have come up with a few DIY solutions here and there for storing my baubles but NOTHING sticked. When I lived at home and not with a boy, it was never a big deal. Since I now live with my amazing boyfriend and i'm tired of hearing him complain about finding necklaces and earrings everywhere, I had to come up with a solution.
I took to Pinterest one day and found some DIY solutions I wanted to try. I wanted something that was minimal work and still pretty when displayed. Here's what I came up with!

I don't have any before and after pictures because I did it in one day and wasn't sure how it was going to come out. After it was done, I was pretty impressed so I kept it. Normally when I do a DIY, I do a trial run and then do it for real. Unfortunately for you guys, everything went according to plan. Here's What You'll Need:Necklace Holder
  • Cork Board with or with out border (similar here)
  • Glue Gun w/ Glue Sticks
  • Fabric of choice
  • Push Pins
  • Scissors
  • Wire for Sunglasses
I first measured the fabric around the cork board and cut it a little bigger than the board. I basically wrapped the cork board with the fabric (think birthday present wrapping). I used the glue gun to seal the fabric around the board. I used an old piece of wire from the back of a picture frame I found in the trash (yea, I like finding things in the trash). I glued the wire down to the back of the cork board. DONE! Use the push pins to hang your jewels. Earring Holder
  • Empty frame 8x10 -I found mine at the Dollar Store. (similar here)
  • Glue Gun
  • Mesh 8x10 -I picked mine up at the local hardware store and they cut it a little bigger than 8x10
  • Fabric of choice
I used the frame empty. No glass or backing. I did the same thing with the frame that I did with the cork board. I measured the fabric, cut it a little bigger and glued it down. I placed the mesh over the fabric and glued down the four corners. I then cut little triangles out of the same fabric and glued those down to cover up any noticeable glue. DONE!

The big denim bow was an impromptu design- I felt like it looked too plain. I made the bow by flipping the fabric inside out and gluing down the edges. It was almost like making a mini pillow case. I used an old bracelet that I no longer wore for cute embellishment and to cinch the middle.

This is my favorite thus far of the things I have made. I didn't realize how easy a DIY Jewelry Organizer could be! I still don't have a solution for all my rings and bracelets but at least I started somewhere. One step at a time...right? How do you store your baubles?

Until next time........................
