I've worn this new formula by Chanel a few times now and I thought I would do my duty as a beauty blogger by sharing my thoughts. The Ombre Premiere shadows are still fairly new to the beauty world. These eyeshadows are supposed to be very soft with great pigment while applying evenly and lasting all day. They come in three finishes: matte, satin, and metallic.
The shade I bought, Talpa, is a soft taupe with a touch of warmth and a slight sheen. It comes across warmer in pictures than it actually is.
1-4 layers of product
The pigment isn't that great...at first. The first layer is very sheer, but this eyeshadow is very buildable. You can easily layer it and with each layer, the more pigmented it gets. You can essentially customize the shadow to whatever color payoff you prefer. Because of this, it is a great option for day or night. I like using it on those "no makeup makeup" days for a sheer wash of color with a hint of shine. It also work great by itself, which I really appreciate. The texture is very soft, but not so much so that you have to contend with fallout. The shadow blends easily and application takes minimal effort, even if you want to build up the color.
Here I am wearing Talpa on the lid and lower lash line. I am also wearing Chanel's Stylo Yeux Eyeliner in Espresso and their Le Volume Mascara in Blue Night, which I LOVE.
It isn't the longest lasting eyeshadow, though. I have noticed that it creases by the end of the day, but this could have more to do with the weather than the eyeshadow formula itself. I can't think of many eyeshadows that can stand up to the heat and humidity of Georgia in June.
These shadows are $30 a pop and you can find them at high end department stores. Except Nordstrom doesn't have Talpa anymore online, which is where I got it.
I'm honestly a little shocked by how much I like this. It is easy to apply and it makes my eyes pop. Will I buy another shade from the line? Probably not, but I would consider them worth checking out if they are on your wish list.
