Can’t Find Love In A Bar, Sons of Daughters at Boots & Hearts 2018 + Interview

By Phjoshua @thereviewsarein

Sons of Daughters got their first taste of Boots & Hearts when they played the Front Porch Stage on Sunday. And if they have their way, it won't be their last.

We caught up with the née Vancouver, now Nashville duo backstage after the show to talk about their summer and coming up to play the festival along with a round of 5 Quick Questions. They told us that it was exciting to get the chance to get on that stage for the country fans in Canada. That every time they get the chance to play it's an opportunity to grow and move forward in their career.

At home in Nashville, they've had the chance to play at the iconic Bluebird Cafe, The Listening Room, and Whiskey Jam. And they've started their first run of US shows opening for Birdtalker in cities like Indianapolis, Akron, and Washington, DC.

On stage at Boots & Hearts, the duo took a new step, playing their set with a full band plugged in with them on stage.

We asked them about it, and they told us that it was all kinds of exciting. They didn't have a whole lot of time to get ready, with their first rehearsal with the band taking place in a trailer just over an hour before show time.

And if they hadn't have told us, we never would have known. The set was tight, the musicians were exactly where they needed to be. And Sons of Daughters put on a great show that was a new step in their performance career.

When we asked them about it during our chat, they half-laughed and told us they didn't know how they'd be able to go back to performing as an acoustic duo after the rush and sound and experience of having the whole band up there with them. And as smooth and sweet as their voices are together, and are when the music is stripped down, we don't blame them for wanting the bigger show.

The duo also told us that they love to write, and look forward to writing more. Chrystal and Jimmy spoke about it with love and passion. It isn't just part of their career, but part of their lives. It was genuine. And we liked it.

Country music fans should be keeping an eye on Sons of Daughters. There will be new music coming, there are songs available online now, and truly, they're just getting started.
