POSEIDON demolished all expectations with their 2017 Ripple Music debut, Prologue, a four-song, 44-minute concept piece that wove together elements of doom, sludge, prog and spacious atmospherics.
The band stormed festivals including Hard Rock Hell, Bloodstock Open Air and DesertFest London and toured with the likes Orange Goblin, Saint Vitus and Mothership, and Prologue was received with almost reverential worldwide acclaim, such as:
Poseidon bring together a sound that explores the vastness of sonic landscapes. From a rage of aggressive riffs, barked vocals and elemental drums to sea-deep rhythms and unearthly melodies, they invoke a catastrophic nature as they dive headfirst into an abyss of heavy rock. - Terrorizer
Prologue is a fascinating extrapolation of the doom genre into other realms and Poseidon are truly a band to pay attention to. - Scene Point Blank
A humid, thick experience that captures delectably the story of a society in crisis... the quality of Poseidon's work will keep you transfixed until the inevitable and stormy end. - The Sludgelord
Unfortunately, that year also saw the departure of group members Matthew Bunkell and Jamie Starke, halting the band's forward momentum.
The delay didn't last long.
Not the types to give up on something so special, Raza and Matt recruited Yusuf Tary from sludge behemoths SLABDRAGGER to assume bass and vocal duties, and welcomed back Roland Scriver from doom legends SERPENT VENOM on second guitar.
Armed with this new arsenal and elevated sonic pedigree, they set immediately back to work.
POSEIDON are currently in the studio writing furiously.Late 2018 will see the band return to the road, and if all goes well, the next chapter in The Medius Chronicle will surface next year, with more updates to come as the massively-anticipated record comes together.
