Brew News Flash! WXPN Radio + Philadelphia Brewing Co. = World Cafe Broadcaster Brown Ale

Here is part of an email that I received last week from a Philadelphia Public Relations firm:

Here’s a phrase you might like to read more often: Free beer! Seriously, I’m writing to tell you how you can score some free beer (and pint glasses too!). Read on.

WXPN is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its flagship World Cafe® program this October, and the station has partnered with Philadelphia Brewing Company to create an exclusive commemorative brew to mark the occasion. It’s called the World Cafe® Broadcaster Brown Ale, and it’s going to be availalble on draft at bars throughout the greater Philly area throughout October.

We’re tapping the first keg with an invitation-only tasting event on Wednesday, September 21 at the Kensington brewery. The event will feature commentary from World Cafe® host and music tastemaker David Dye, Philadelphia Brewing Company representative Bill Barton and WXPN General Manager Roger LaMay, a video screening, brewery tours and of course, free beer!

Those in attendance will also take home World Cafe® Broadcaster Brown Ale pint glasses. Sounds like a good deal, right?

Unfortunately, the event was scheduled for 4PM. Not a very convenient time when you have a full time job. Since they were kind enough to invite us to the event, I asked them to send us any additional information that we could share with you, our loyal readers. Below is the official press release…

WXPN and Philadelphia Brewing Co. held a celebratory tasting event at the brewery on September 21 where Dye and other station representatives tasted the beer for the first time.
