Jason Blaine came back to the Boots & Hearts main stage on Saturday afternoon to bring a little Ottawa Valley country to the assembled fans.
The 2018 festival was the third time we've seen Blaine up on the B&H stage, and each time he has given the crowd an opportunity to sing, dance, and cheer. This year he did all of that with a smile on his face and the sun shining brightly in the sky.
In a set that included songs like Friends Of Mine, Feels Like That, and Boy With A Guita r, Jason Blaine gave everyone the good time they were hoping for. And three days into the country music long weekend, thousands of fans were still looking fresh, enjoying themselves, and ready for more.
The Rock In My Boot singer also paid tribute to one of the greatest on Saturday. Blaine and the band, along with a choir of voices in the crowd, sang Tom Petty's I Won't Back Down. It was unexpected and special. It was a celebration of music and a man. It was pretty great.
More than a decade has passed since Jason Blaine first hit the charts, the Pembroke, ON native has no shortage of material to fit into his set. So when we played big fan favourites like Rock It Country Girl, Spotlight, Country Side, and They Don't Make 'Em Like That Anymore, we weren't surprised to see and hear the happy reactions from the Boots & Hearts attendees.
Jason Blaine is a well-celebrated, award-winning, hit-making country artist and we have a feeling we'll be seeing him up on the main stage at Boots & Hearts sometime soon. And if he plays then like he did on that sunny Saturday afternoon, everyone will be happy again.
