The Other Hand by Chris Cleave"We don't want to tell you about that happens in this book. It is a truly special story and we don't want to spoil it.
Once you have read it, you'll want to tell your friends about it.
When you do, please don't tell them what happens either. The magic is in how it unfolds."
This statement on the back cover is spot on - a great story, but one you don't want to spoil for others. It covers some interesting issues such as immigration, loyalties and what we see as morally acceptable behaviour, and leaves you thinking "what would I have done?".This sounds fairly heavy going - that's not entirely true. The characters are complex, and the story line might  touch on some serious issues, but this is 'real life' (see the notes at the back of the book) and I warmed to the characters instantly. You can really picture the situation each character is in and empathise with them. If you fancy reading something perhaps a little different I would really recommend this book. I was given it to me by my Mum who was given it by my Auntie. It's one of those books whose reputation is passed on through word of mouth... I guess what I'm doing right now!Have you read The Other Hand?
