Book Review: The Girl in Room 105
The girl in room 105 is a thriller novel written by Chetan Bhagat. This story is about a girl named Zara lone (the girl who is murdered in the novel) that I couldn’t stop reading.
Plot: She was murdered at IIT Delhi campus in her own hostel room. Before dying, she calls her ex-boyfriend Keshav into her room who finds her dead. And after that Keshav makes it his life’s mission to solve her murder’s mystery and his friend named Saurabh helps him in solving the case.
What I loved about the book is its suspense which the author has managed to keep throughout his novel. And I really loved the character named Saurabh. He was a genuine friend, witty, funny, intelligent and supporting. Without his help, Keshav would not have been able to solve this case. Even though Keshav is the main character, Saurabh stole my heart because of his duty towards his friend.
Zara was Kashmiri Muslim, doing her Ph.D. in the area of Big Data Analytics and Networking in IIT, having a brilliant argumentative capability she falls in love with Keshav Rajpurohit who was the son of an RSS Activist, also studying in IIT (forcefully).

Well, in the end, the Girl in Room 105 fails to express what actually the author wants to convey. None of Zara’s brilliance is reflected in rest of the book except in the opening paragraphs where she participates in a debate competition. As well as None of Zara’s independent and free-thinking nature is reflected in the story.
The Girl in Room 105 has nothing to say, the plot of the story is just a hole covered with some dried leaves, if anyone walks over it they will definitely fall into the hole and As a consequence, you the reader have left with no option but just to read and enjoy yourself with few bad jokes and some nice Bollywood like scenes.
If you are looking for a thriller book for a weekend then this book is definitely a catch. But As many people have a perception of Chetan Bhagat’s book that he has no relationship with ‘literature’ then they are right!
Read it only if you feel like you don’t have anything to read or willing to read thriller this weekend.
