Book Review on “The 5000 Year Leap” By W. Cleon Skousen And My Thought’s on It.

By Shanesbookblog @shanesbookblog

This review is for a friend of mine “Critical Thinker” who shares the same amount of love for our great country and who enjoys our freedoms just as much as me. We also share some of the same political beliefs and we are both worried about the current state our country is in,and what our future holds.

He suggested I read this book and requested I do a review on it for him and I was very excited to read the book.

Non-Fiction titles will always have a special place in my heart especially History books and anything that has to do with the founding of our great country and the great men who made all of our freedom’s and individual journeys possible.

The 5000 year leap

A miracle that changed the world

By W. Cleon Skousen

Mr. Skousen Wrote this book because he wanted to document the formula our founding fathers used so that it would be easy to understand and fun to read.

He also wrote this book to show the readers what true politicians were like back in the time when history was rich with brilliant and dangerously creative men.

The atrocities and mistakes our politicians and elected officials were conspiring in during the time of Mr. Skousen’s writing of this book also inspired him to teach us what our history truly meant and how things are really supposed to be in Washington and in politics in general.

(Kind of relates even more so in today’s tragedy’s and errors on capital hill and in congress)

Before you can understand the history of the United States you need to understand our founding fathers and how they meticulously crafted our constitution and our way of life.

This Book covers and goes into great detail on the fundamentals of our government and explains the 28 principles and guidelines that our country’s founders were trying to accomplish. If you don’t have a good grasp on understanding the constitution before you absorb this book, you most certainly will after reading it.

It is important to mention that this book does not attack any political party and does not lean or have a preference to democrats or republicans, liberals or right wing conservatives. It was not designed or written to be an attack on any of the party’s or any of the members of any party in the past or in the current times when Mr. Skousen wrote this book. You will find a few times when he mentions “The Right or the Left” But it is not written in the concept of Conservatism vs. Liberalism.

So don’t worry about your party being demoralized or mocked because you WILL NOT find any of that in this book.

If that is what you are after I have a few books written By Bill O’Reilly I could recommend that I have enjoyed recently such as “Pinheads or Patriots” “Where you stand in the age of Obama”. A book about When Bill O’Reilly interviewed then Senator Barack Obama during the 2008 Presidential elections, the two had a lively debate about the nation’s future.

The 5000 year leap quotes the founding fathers religiously, which I enjoyed and also learned quite a bit about politics and how our country was formed and what it means to be a true political figure.

As soon as I was done reading the last page I immediately was alarmed on how both  republicans and democrats are acting and how they can’t even agree on the simplest of things or compromise not even an inch.

Also after reading this book you may end up questioning your own political beliefs, I know I did. If you have a hard time agreeing with the concepts of this book which I have found some people do, then you can do your own homework on the constitution and on our founding fathers and what their beliefs were and what their vision was of how they wanted this country to be and how they wanted to envision our country in the distant future.

Unfortunately if our founding fathers were alive today It saddens me to say this but I know for a fact they would be disappointed and would want to know just how in the world we allowed such separation from state and morally incorrect things to go on just because we didn’t want to let the other party have the last word,or because we couldn’t compromise with each other or share.

I know I learned how to compromise and share in kindergarten…so why there is such a  easily preventable mess on capitol hill today is beyond me….it’s either ego’s getting in the way or they have totally forgotten the lesson’s our founding fathers taught us. Maybe we should suspend there pay until they read this book and other history books. (That’s just a thought I had)

After reading this book I understood just how bad the health and current state of distress our politics are in at the moment. I pray we don’t keep going down this long hazardous path because if we do the freedoms we all enjoy might come crashing down in a burning fire resembling a famous quatrain by Nostradamus.

We built this country with the ideals and beliefs that compromise and sharing would ensure we never ended up in such a predicament…I honestly wonder why it seems everyone has forgotten the basics to humanity and why greed is the main contributing factor to each issue being misunderstood or simply held up for way too long in congress.

It’s time we all grew up and stopped caring about such childish things…if we don’t I fear we our on a path to self destruction that we won’t be able to fix once we all realize how much of an arrogant fool we are all being towards one another.

Let me know what your opinion is on how our country is handling all the different issues that our currently hot topics between both party’s and why you think we can’t ever come to agreements on any of the most important issues.

Lastly I would like to add I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn about our Constitution and who are founding fathers were and their beliefs.

If you love politics and history you will certainly love this book!
