Avoid looking like a tourist in the busy cities

One of the most important things to remember is you need to try and fit in as much as you can. If you start acting like a tourist, you might run into trouble when you are in the touristy areas. After all, thieves will make a beeline for tourists who are unsure of where they are. Therefore, it’s so important to read up about the area and how to get around before you arrive in France. That way, you can avoid looking like a tourist when you are in the country. Avoid getting a map out of your bag when you are on the main streets; use your phone if necessary as people might not realize you are looking for directions. And if you need help, ask a shop owner or a barista rather than a stranger in the street. That way, you can stay out of danger! And learn some basics of French before you go. If you are talking in English, people will know you are a tourist!

Find accommodation in non-touristy areas such as Provence

A lot of people want to stay in the best areas close to the top sights. But if you do this, you are going to end up breaking the bank. And not only this, but you won’t get to experience the real beauty that France has to offer. Therefore, you should look for somewhere to stay in one of the quieter areas such as Provence. You can find a typical Provence house to stay in which will ensure you get a real French experience during your trip. You can still travel around to visit the busiest areas, but it will give you a cheaper and more authentic visit to France!

Do go shopping in Nice or Cannes

One of the things France is most famous for is their fashion. After all, some of the biggest fashion designers of our time are from the beautiful country. Coco Chanel and Jean Paul Gaultier, just to name two! Therefore, it’s a must that you go shopping while you are in France. And although Paris is the hub for fashion, there are a couple of other places you should visit too. The old town in Nice is a great area for shopping; you will find some unique clothes on the market. Also, Cannes, which is popular with celebrities, is a fabulous place to go shopping. You will find upmarket stores, boutiques, and perfumeries in areas such as La Croisette.

Remember to take the metro to get around in France. It’s the cheapest and safest way to travel while in the beautiful country.
