Thoughts on Blacks Can’t Swim: Rewind

Blacks Can’t Swim: Rewind is a documentary exploring the reason why the young black generation don’t swim. See the two teenagers who are facing difficult decisions in their lives. One wants to give up swimming, and the other sees the side effects of never learning how to swim.

The documentary will give us an insight into how the opportunities aren’t offered. At a young age, the generation looks to role models, with the men driven towards football, if they take a sport. The women are worried about the side effects of swimming.

Seeing the documentary also play out the scenes, before returning to interview segments. It will put the spotlight on the cultural differences between races when it comes to swimming. The sides that will make people more hesitant to jump in. Exploring the ideas people would have on making things different for the next generation. Breaking down the stigma around the exercise.
