13 year old activist Marley Dias, just released her 1st book!
Marley, who started the #1000BlackGirlBooks movement, released her first book, Marley Dias Gets It Done And So Can You on Tuesday. The introduction in the book is done by none other than Ava DuVernay, whom Marley joined at the Teen Vogue Summit last summer in L.A.
According to an article in Elle, the book is not easily categorized. It is part autobiography, part scrapbook, part inspirational text, and part social justice toolkit—because, as Marley writes, “I’ve never liked being put into a category.” She defies them all.
Marley is out on a book tour, with stops scheduled in New York, New Jersey, Philly and Chicago. Dias also received the Trailblazer Award at the 2018 Trumpet Awards that were held in Atlanta earlier this month. Her gift has taken her everywhere, even to the White House, where she spoke at the United State of Women Summit alongside Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey.
