When Mattie packed her hope chest, she put away the heartache of her past. But as her daughters begin to unpack it, she discovers a healing more powerful than she ever hoped for.

Mattie Fisher’s three daughters know that she’s been keeping a secret from them. With each item pulled from the beloved family hope chest, they’ve discovered a new clue about their mother’s past.

But there’s a reason Mattie has been keeping her history hidden, and she’s not sure she’s ready to reopen old wounds. Will dredging up the past change the way her children view her? Or her marriage to their father? And can she handle the pain of revisiting the memories that preceded the last few happy decades?

Mattie’s story is one of grief and learning to love again. But like the best things preserved in a hope chest, it’s a story of love and redemption born out of heartache—and it’s past time to share it.

I was originally added to the Blog Tour for this book but unfortunately, my Amish book reader on staff (my mother) became ill and was taking care of her health issues instead of reading. Now that she’s back up and reading and writing reviews on her Amish reads, I can now post this review.  As her daughter, I’m very grateful she’s recovering and it’s definitely way more important than any book review! In any event, here’s Gloria’s review:

“This is the fourth and final book in An Amish Heirloom Novel series.

I have read the previous three:  The Forgotten Recipe, The Courtship Basket, and the Cherished Quilt and was excited to read the final one The Beloved Hope Chest.  Amy Clipston is an excellent Amish writer and I have enjoyed all four of this series very much but this last one is my favorite.

We have read the stories of the Mattie and Leroy Fisher’s three daughters, Veronica, Rachel, and Emily in the previous books and this book is the story of Mattie and Leroy.

This story starts with Mattie gathering her 3 adult daughters to the kitchen table, sharing a cup of tea and to tell them the story about items that they had found over the years in the hope chest. A tiny onies and a swatch of hair that Veronica found, a stack of letters her daughter Rachel found. Before starting, Mattie touched the other articles in the hope chest that had been hidden away for over twenty eight years.

The memories in the hope chest takes her back to her life before she met their father Leroy.  When Mattie starts her story they learn that she was married to Isaiah who had been killed and was pregnant with a baby boy before she married their father.  Reading Mattie’s story about what she and Leroy went through in the early years of their marriage and to share their journey to make their marriage work was very emotional.  (Tissues needed here, folks!)

This is a beautiful story full of love, loss, hopes, dreams, grief, and redemption.  A wonderful ending to the series.  I will miss the Fisher Family.”

Guest post from Amy Clipston:

I am thrilled to share the The Beloved Hope Chest, which is the final installment of my Amish Home series.
In The Beloved Hope Chest, the Fisher sisters learn the mystery behind their parents’ marriage—and about the sibling who has never been spoken of.

This book is very close to my heart since it is the last in my Amish Heirloom series. I’ve grown to love the Fisher family, and writing Mattie and Leroy’s story was bittersweet. This is a very emotional story, and I poured my heart and soul into it. I hope you enjoy this book since it reveals all of the mysteries that have been placed throughout the series.
