Australis Metallix Eyeshadows - Gold Gaga And Plum Diddy Review , Swatches and Price

By Ritujain
My favorite month of the year is finally here.. Yes !! December is here and it means Christmas, fun, happiness, gifts, food and lots of parties to enjoy and we will be attending quite a lot this year so I had to buy new dresses, shoes, jewelry and makeup which would be party and festive-season appropriate. The product which I am going to review today was also purchased in my latest makeup shopping hauls.
If you have read my previous posts about my makeup haul from Priceline and Big W, then you must have seen that I got a lot of shimmery eyeshadows and colored eyeliners to glam up my makeup this party season and Australis Metallix Eyeshadows are one of those and perhaps my most favorite too. I was planning to buy those ever since I saw my bud Renji from www.makeupholicworld.com review those on her blog. She had posted some gorgeous swatches which drove me crazy so I had to get these babies.

Out of total 6 colors available, I bought the colors 'Gold Gaga' which is a gorgeous dull-golden sort of a color and 'Plum Diddy' which looks a dark plum color in the pot but comes out to be a chocolate brown. Both of these colors are very versatile and ideal for dark and medium skin tones. Gold Gaga will look lovely on fair skin too whereas Plum Diddy can be a bit dark. I use 'Gold Gaga' on the inner corners of my eyes, center of my lid and sometimes to highlight my brow-bone and 'Plum Diddy' to define my outer corners for a more sultry and edgy look. These 2 colors are the stars of an Indian Bridal eye makeup.. perfect to be used in weddings.

Housed in cute little plastic screw pots, these cream/gel eyeshadows from Australis Cosmetics have metallic foil finish and are perfect to take your day time subtle eye-makeup to night time glamorous eye-makeup. Due to light reflecting shimmer particles, these add depth and dimension to the eyes.
These have a mousse like formula so blend like a dream and once blended these take a few seconds to set in place like gel based eye makeup products do. The pigmentation is the best thing about these eyeshadows..Just one swipe and these are fully opaque. Take some on the tip of your finger and apply on your eyelids to get the perfect intense color. You can use a brush also but I feel that fingers work just the best with these eyeshadows. Here are the swatches,,,applied with a very light hand and in single swipe only.

Being versatile, these can be used on their own, as a base under powder eyeshadows to make them pop and on top of matte/subtle eye makeup to add some oomph and drama to the look. You can use these to achieve a party-appropriate makeup look even if you are a beginner in makeup because these require literally no skills.
Just a few not-so-good things about Australis Metallix Eyeshadows..These have a lasting power of 4-5 hours if used on primed lids. The shimmer present in these tends to wear off as the time passes so these keep losing the shine. I have oily lids, and these do tend to crease on me an hour after application so I have to set these with matching powder eyeshadows to prolong the wear time. Also, the color 'Plum Diddy' does not look as uniformly metallic as 'Gold Gaga' and rather looks like a matte chocolate brown with shimmer particles scattered all over. The Verdict - These are lovely eyeshadows, beginner friendly, easy to use, very blendable, richly pigmented and versatile. The bonus is that these are cruelty-free too. These could be great if these didn't crease and lasted longer. However I still recommend these because these are great to be used on special occasions and can take your eye makeup a notch up without much efforts.I will repurchase more shades and these ones too if I ever finish these because these last for a really good time and are a value for money. These are available at Priceline, Big W and Kmart for $9.49 each in 4 more shades namely 'Jay Zed',  'Lana Del Grey', 'Guns and Rose Petals' and 'Pearl Jammin.'Buy online from Australis Cosmetics Website. How's your Christmas shopping going on ?
