Aretha Franklin Doctor Orders The Singer To Take A Break From Touring
The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin has been ordered to take a break from touring.

After a doctor ordered Franklin to get some rest, the singer cancelled upcoming concerts, including a headlining gig at New Orleans’ Jazz Fest.

According to a statement from her management team, Franklin will take a break for at least two months.

“Aretha Franklin has been ordered by her doctor to stay off the road and rest completely for at least the next two months,” Franklin’s management wrote in a statement. “She is extremely disappointed she cannot perform at this year’s New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival as she had expected and hoped to.”

Outside of the New Orleans Jazz Festival, Franklin was scheduled to perform at a March 25th concert at Newark’s New Jersey Performing Arts Center. That performance was scheduled to take place on Franklin’s 76th birthday.
