Following the success of USS Greyhound, bought by Apple TV + and broadcast last summer, the platform acquired another feature film directed by Tom Hanks. This time it is the sci-fi drama Finch, formerly titled Bios.

The project, produced by Amblin Entertainment, was initially due for release on October 2, 2020. After being postponed to April 16, 2021 and then to August 13 - and with a view to a timid reopening of theaters around the world due to the pandemic of COVID-19 - The distributor of the film Universal Pictures held an auction. It is therefore Apple TV + which obtains the rights to an exclusive broadcast expected later in the year.

Finch's story takes place after a cataclysmic solar event leaves the world fallow. Tom Hanks plays the title role, Finch, a robotics engineer and one of the few survivors. He creates a robot (voiced by Caleb Landry Jones) to watch over Goodyear when he is no longer able to do so.

As the trio embark on a perilous journey to a desolate American West, Finch strives to show his robot the joy and wonder of what it means to be alive and teach him how to take care of his dog after he leaves. .

Miguel Sapochnik directs this sci-fi drama written by Craig Luck and Ivor Powell. The English director became known to the general public thanks to his work on Game of Thrones. He directed some of the saga's most epic episodes, including The Battle of the Bastards and The Winds of Winter.
