On Friday, June 8 at 8pm, Peter and Kate Pearce are hosting an Evening with Elvis featuring the Bradley Cole Smith Band benefitting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) at Tavern 99 in Buckhead. It’s an event not to be missed, and anyone contributing $250 or more to the campaign will receive complimentary admission to the show.

Leukemia has had a tremendous impact on Peter and his family as he lost his Mom, Tina, to the disease in 2001, his Grandfather Buddy as a young child, and most recently his Uncle Mark in 2010.  As a family member dealing with the illness of a loved one, the overwhelming emotion you feel is a sense of helplessness. However, there is a way that you can help, and offer hope to those dealing with these diseases.

Peter was recently nominated as a candidate for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s 2012 Man of The Year. Peter is honored to help lead this fundraising campaign to support The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) in its efforts to find a cure for blood cancers and to assist patients and families as they battle this disease. Peter and Kate’s efforts, along with your help, will support the discovery of blood cancer therapies and fund research to find cures. Please “Be A Hero” and support LLS by making a donation to this fundraising campaign. Every dollar raised counts as one vote and the candidate who gets the most votes and raises the most money is named the local Man or Woman of the Year.

Since 1949 the survival rate for many blood cancer patients has doubled or tripled and in some cases quadrupled.  And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are being tested in clinical trials for patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. Drugs like Gleevec, Sprycel, Arinza, Tasigna and Zolinza are now being tested for patients with other non-cancerous diseases like Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis. All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. The LLS is a tremendous organization that has provided more than $800MM in research and patient support as well as assisted with patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.
