Amazon, the world biggest online retailer wants to now transform the offline retail world with their new technology product, Amazon Go.
Amazon Go, dubbed as the world's most advanced shopping technology is a very simple yet a bit confusing technology by Amazon. Amazon Go is a 1,800 square feet store which requires no checkout at all, you simply turn ON the Amazon Go app when you as you walk in the store, shop the products you want and walk out the store without standing in lines for checkout. Amazon Go app will handle everything. You don't even need to take out your phone while shopping.
' Just Walk Out Technology' automatically detects when products are taken or returned to the shelves and keeps tracks of them in your virtual cart. Shortly after you leave the store, your Amazon account will be billed automatically for all the items you purchased while in store. A receipt will also be sent for your records. So all you need to shop in the Amazon Go store is an Amazon account, Smartphone and the free Amazon Go app.
Our checkout-free shopping experience is made possible by the same types of technologies used in self-driving cars: computer vision, sensor fusion, and deep learning.
For now the Amazon Go is only selling limited items like ready-to-eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks & drinks, grocery and stables like milk, bread & cheese. All the food items are fresh made by on-site chefs from local kitchens and bakeries.
Along with ready-to-eat items, Amazon Go will also serve ready-to-cook meal kits which shall include all the ingredients you need to make a meal for two in about 30 minutes.
As much as this sounds like a joke or some sort of gimmick, this is very much real you can visit the one of a kind store at 2131 7th Ave, Seattle, WA, on the corner of 7th Avenue and Blanchard Street.

This sure does begs the question will the fear of robots taking over jobs be a real thing? In this case its the AI. This would be a great thing for working professionals and crowded places like bus stops, airports, train stations where the need of quick meal is necessary and needs to be time efficient but for a regular/casual shopper with window shopping being the primary reason of walking into a store this would be a bit chaotic. Nonetheless, this is a indeed a great technological advancement and might be part of the future where menial jobs will most likely get replaced by such technologies.
