We all know about the damaging effects of the sun on our skin but how many of us actually think about the impact of the air and pollution in our environment because there's plenty of research that shows that exposure to smog, free radicals, smoke, airborne metals and fine particulate matter (minuscule particles of soot and dirt) can take a toll on skin making it dull and lackluster while also leading to signs of premature aging like fine lines, cellular damage and loss of elasticity as well as exacerbating inflammation, sensitivity and existing skin conditions such as eczema and hives. With pollution on the rise and no way of avoiding it entirely, short of never going outside, fortunately there's been a rise of products in the anti-pollution skincare market to help address it.
Since I live in New York City, pollution is a real skincare concern of mine. I've been using the Allies of Skin1A All–Day Mask (reviewed here) and Oskia Citylife Cleansing Concentrate (reviewed here). And I recently added the Oskia CityLife Concentrate Intense Anti-Pollution Defence Booster to my routine.
