5000 Melting Ice Sculptures In The Memory Of The Victims Of The WWI
0In order to remind us of all the civilians who were killed during “The Great War” a Brazilian artist came up with an extraordinary idea of how to do it.
Brazilian sculptor Neve Azevedo created an art installation where he arranged 5000 melting ice sculptures on the steps of the Birmingham’s Chamberlain Square. These tiny ice figurines were placed on the steps by the volunteers who helped Neve pull off this surreal but stunning scene. The observers were left speechless when the figurines started to melt,especially the red figure which was supposed to represent the “dripping blood”.
“I wanted to break with the traditional characteristics of a monument,“ said Azevedo to Birmingham Mail. My sculptures remember people who are not remembered by other monuments.”
