In the winter, many people want to avoid the harsh conditions that come with it. Often you hear the phrase, “I’d love a vacation right about now, but I just can’t afford it.”
So as a result, many spend their time inside on the computer, social networking with their friends. Now, unbeknownst to many, the social media networks can help find you amazing travel deals to avoid the winter weather.
1. Finding Deals Via Twitter
A little known fact about the social media monster Twitter is that it can help you find some amazing travel deals. In order to seek these deals out, you should first start by creating a Twitter, if you haven’t already. Once that step is done, start searching and following airlines you’d like to fly and hotels you’d enjoy staying at. One great way to find these to follow is to Wanderlist.
By following these hotels and airlines, they often tweet out great deals they are offering at that current time. However, another great way to find deals is to do a simple Twitter search for them. For example, typing in, “Boston Travel Deals” will yield some results, allowing you to book your trip at a lesser price.
2. Using Facebook To Get You Rewards
While Facebook may not be the best place to go searching for deals, if you are a member of an airline or hotel’s rewards program, you should really search for their rewards program’s page and “like” it. Once you do this, special offers for rewards members should pop up every once and awhile. Make sure to check the pages periodically to make sure you take advantage of being a rewards member!
3. Social Recommendations
Using certain websites and services, you are able to pull travel advice from social networks and find out who is getting the best deals, and where. For example, a website called Trippy allows you to get your friends’ recommendations for places to visit and things to do when you’re planning a trip. Yet, you should be careful when using these types of site, because while they may be recommendations from your friends, they may not always be the cheapest.
4. Internet Forums
Seemingly a thing of the past, internet forums are still great ways to find travel deals. There are some specific forums that specialize in looking for the latest travel deals and savings. While they may not be the best option, they are definitely one still worth exploring to see what you can find.
5. Last Minute Lodging
So you decided to have a spare of the moment trip, and you hop on a plane on a whim. You still need somewhere to stay, correct? Apps such as HotelTonight, Foursquare, and Airbnb’s app can all provide you with places to stay, last minute. Even better, they offer specials too!
All of these tips can provide you with the perfect excuse to get away. Finally, the winter can stop getting you down with these vacations and prices at your fingertips.
