Let’s face it: we women are strange creatures. We are so obsessed with beauty that we’re willing to go to great measures to amp up our physical attractiveness. Some things we do are completely harmless, like doing our hair, throwing on cute outfits, or practicing our own perfect smile. As for other things we do in the name of beauty, well, most of them are completely nuts… yet totally common. Some of those methods work; some don’t. Let’s take a look at 5 of them.

Pumping poison into our faces

Botox is a word often thrown around by rich women. It sounds like a neat and easy procedure so common that it’s harmless. Actually, it’s quite nasty. Botox is poison. Really. Formally called Botulinum toxin, Botox is a purified form of the toxin found in improperly handled meat. Know what’s even grosser? Women actually have that stuff injected into their faces to help smooth out their wrinkles. Maybe one-time use of Botox could be unnoticeable and your face could still look normal. However, if you continually receive Botox procedures, you’ll end up looking like this:

Too much Botox can make you look like you’re wearing a rubber mask of somebody else’s face. So, yes, excessive Botox does not work.

Injecting collagen into our lips

These days, full lips are seen as the epitome of beauty. So it’s only natural that women with razor-thin lips or even semi-full lips would rush to have collagen injected into their lips. If you’re even thinking about doing this, please don’t. You’ll end up looking like a duck or fish. Case in point:

Drawing black lines in our eyelids

When you think of applying eyeliner as “drawing black lines in our eyelids”, it does sound a little bit disturbing. The trick to doing it right is to be subtle. Case in point:

So, yes, eyeliner can help make you look better. The sole point of applying eyeliner is to make your eyes appear bigger and more prominent. However, if you apply too much eyeliner, you’ll end up looking like this…

You want to appear attractive to people, not raccoons.

Pumping chemicals into our hair

Okay, we admit it: hair coloring is fun. However, some women go overboard with it. We’ve met women who couldn’t go 4 weeks without coloring their hair. It could be due to boredom, vanity, or simply the desire to cover up gray hair. Whatever the reason, hair coloring is very popular these days. A lot of women don’t even like to think about the fact that hair coloring is essentially pumping chemicals into their own hair and scalp. Sounds kind of scary, doesn’t it?

When done in moderation, a new hair color could really enhance your look.

However, if you do it too often, or if you even lighten your hair too much, your hair can get fried so much to the point where you have to cut it all off. We’re pretty sure this is what happened to Rumer Willis:

Inserting sacs of silicone under our chest tissues

This procedure is widely known as getting breast implants. No matter how you want to cut it, it is still inserting sacs of silicone under your chest tissues. Sounds kind of uncomfortable, doesn’t it? Well, a lot of women seem to be unfazed by it.

If you get breast implants just to increase your cup size, your chest will end up looking so unnatural. While some guys may find it attractive (especially if they’re into Barbie doll-like porn stars), many guys are turned off by what they call “screw-on boobs”. Take a look at Victoria Beckham before she got her breast implants. She looked nice, classy, and natural, didn’t she? Now, look at her “after” picture. She now looks kind of plastic-like, robotic, and fake, doesn’t she?

Even worse, your breast implants could look terrible if the doctor botches the surgery. Even the rich and famous aren’t immune to this unsightly disaster:

As far as we know, she hasn’t undergone any unnatural procedures. She simply worked out, wore minimal makeup, and loved herself for who she was.

You’re beautiful just the way you are, even in your flat shoes and the oversized tee. Never forget that!
