20 YEARS AGO: Manic Street Preachers - Black Dog On My Shoulder

Posted on the 29 December 2018 by Rw/ff @rwffmusic
One of the biggest and most anticipated albums of 1998 was the sublime 'This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours' by the Manic Street Preachers. The Manics are a big favorite here at RW/FF, and since December has featured tracks from 1998's best albums as well as 2018's, inevitably the Welsh rock heroes have been on these pages quite a lot over the few weeks. A genuine classic, wide-screen magnificence arrives in the form of 'Black Dog On My Shoulder', with it's glorious brushed drums, sweetly playful bridge, graceful, soaring strings, and another vocal that sends shivers down the spine. Magical in every way, and easily capable of reducing me to tears.

The track is included with all the other 'This Is My Truth...' tracks on the deluxe 20th anniversary edition of the album, which is out now. It also features unreleased demos as well as all the B sides from the era and remixes. Read a review of the original album HERE.
